* Owing to the agreement celebrated between APDR, AECR (Spanish Association of Regional Science) and ABER (Brazilian Regional Science Association), AECR and ABER members enjoy the same fee that APDR members.

The difference is that the accompanying person cannot attend the Congress itself, which means parallel sessions, plenary sessions, opening, closing, meetings, etc. The accompanying person can only participate in the social parts of the Congress (all meals and transfers).

Cape Verde national citizen’s participants have, as alternative to the international bank transfer (exchange rate according to the payment date) can pay the registration fee in cash on the Treasure Department (“Tesouraria”) of the University Jean Piaget of Cape Verde, Campus City Beach, from 9h until 13h and from 14h until 17h. For this Congress, APDR contacted several tourism agencies. The one which presented the best co-relation quality/budget proposal was Top Atlântico. The services offered by this company include the Congress registration fee, flight ticket, airport/hotel/Congress transfers, accommodation, alimentation, etc. APDR recommends all participants to make their registration with this agency. Top Atlântico prices are lower than direct booking and allow a more homogeneous and, therefore, organized activities, accommodation and mobility of all Congress group. However, participants are free to deal with your travel and stay with the tour operator they wish, not forgetting that, in that case, they need to make their Congress registration directly with APDR.


Study Visits

The study visits are not included in the Congress fee neither for participants, neither for accompanying persons: they are organized by members of the Scientific Committee depending on the number of interested participants. The aim of the study visits is the production of a characterization and analysis study about the sustainable development of each visited island. These studies will be presented and discussed at a special session of Congress on July 9. These studies involve literature research and analysis, meetings with mayors, businessmen and local agents and visit the most relevant places for the sustainable development of each island.
 
- The visit to Santiago Island, with a maximum of 20 participants, starts at 00:10 H on the July 6 at the Praia’s Airport, after the arrival of the plane from Lisbon. The group will sleep at the city of Assomada, which located 36 km from the airport. On July 6 will occur the meeting with the local politicians and entrepreneurs, followed by a walking path around 3 hours to Porto Rincão. That will be followed by a trip to Tarrafal, where participants will be accommodated that night. On July 7 there will be meetings with the politicians and entrepreneurs of Tarrafal, followed by a trip to Pedra Badejo where the group will meet with the local agents and overnight. The meeting with the development agents of the city of Praia will occur during July 8.

- The visit to São Vicente Island, with a maximum of 30 participants, starts at 06:10 H on July 6 at the Praia’s Airport (participants who have arrived from Lisbon on the previous night stay in one of Praia’s hotels). On July 6 there will be a tour in the island of São Vicente, with visits to Vale do Calhau, Morro Verde, bays of Salamanca and Gatas and Zona Industrial. On July 7 there will be a boat visit to the Santo Antão Island, with the possibility of walking to Paúl. On July 8 there will be visit Mindelo city and at 21:30 H return by plane Santiago. Along this visit there will be meetings with local politicians and other development agents.

- The visit to Boavista Island, with a maximum of 30 participants, starts at 07:00 H of July 6 at the Praia’s Airport (participants who have arrived from Lisbon on the previous night stay in one of Praia’s hotels). On July 6 there will be a tour along Boavista. On July 7 there will be meetings with local politicians and other development agents. The return to the Santiago is scheduled for July 8.

The study visits to São Vincent and Boavista will be based in hotels advertised on the website below.

The payment of the study visits are with Top Atlântico, which means that people can not join the study visits unless they book it with this travel agency.

The tourist visits are the initiative of each or ordered directly to Top Atlântico.
