Research on demographic phenomena - cause and consequence of territorial development - is particularly stimulating by the time census data is published. This is the case by now: most census data is being released all over Europe and APDR decided to grab this opportunity and make it the theme of 2003 Congress. The X Meeting will be held at the University of Évora from the 26th until the 28th June 2003.

At this moment, the provisional themes for parallel sessions are:

  • Population demographic structure and development

  • Urban and rural areas

  • Local and regional public economics

  • Local development and entrepreneurship

  • New technologies and regional development

  • New challenges and old problems in rural territories

Principles for the APDR Meetings

1.      Accepted papers should be signed by a maximum of 3 co-authors (exceptions for 4 co-authors can be considered subject to case-by-case analysis by the Organising Committee).

2.      Proponents of papers signed by more than one author must always provide the full contacts of each one of the co-authors (name, affiliation, postal mail and electronic mail, telephones, fax).

3.      Only papers approved beforehand by the Organising Committee and effectively presented by one of its authors in a parallel session will be considered as “presented papers” thus being eligible for publication in the Proceedings.

4.      In principle, we expect all co-authors of a paper to participate in the Congress (regularly registered). Only papers for which at least one of the co-authors is regularly registered will be inserted in the Final Program.

5.      Co-authors who cannot attend the Meeting or prefer not to register must contact the Organising Committee before the Meeting certifying that they are indeed co-authors of the paper. This signed certification should always be sent by postal mail to APDR – Apartado 3060 – P-3001-401 COIMBRA – PORTUGAL. The Organising Committee will acknowledge the reception. If the certification does not arrive before the Meeting, only registered co-authors will appear as such in the Final Program and in the Proceedings.
