12th WORKSHOP APDR | INPUT-OUTPUT MODELS

February 15, 2012 | Escola Superior de Tecnologia e GestÃo do Instituto PolitÉcnico de Leiria

Input-output models have received a renewed importance in recent years, both by the academic community as by institutions that support political and economic decision-making.

The enhanced quality of statistical information, along with the increasing computational power provided by new technologies, has contributed to this increasing importance. These facts, together with the rising international collaboration in research, have originated multiple extensions of input-output research, namely: environmental applications, regional applications, development of general equilibrium models, adaptation of the model to new systems of national accounts, social accounting matrices, among others.

In such context, we invite fellow researchers, practitioners and students to participate in the Workshop that will take place on February 15th, 2012, and share with us the results of your research within input-output analysis.

This event will benefit from the valuable contribution of two distinguished international references in this field - Professor Geoffrey Hewings (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA) and Professor M. Alejandro Cardenete (European Commission (JRC-IPTS) & Pablo de Olavide University), which will honor us as keynote speakers at the plenary sessions of the workshop.

This initiative consists of the 12th Workshop of APDR (Portuguese Association for Regional Development), being organized in partnership with the Research Center in Management for Sustainability at the School of Technology and Management, Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, where the meeting takes place.

A selection of papers will then be published in the APDR journal issue.
